I am Tom Martin. I grew up in Tullahoma, TN and played football, basketball, and baseball at Tullahoma High School, graduating in 1960. In 1959 I was all Central Tennessee Conference and all-midstate at end in football. I accepted a grant-in-aid to Vanderbilt for football and entered in the fall of 1960. I participated on the freshman team (freshmen were not eligible for varsity play at that time) and lettered in football in 1962 and 1963. In 1963 I was named the outstanding player for the Tennessee game.After graduating in 1964 I entered Lexington Theological Seminary from which I graduated in 1964 with a Master of Divinity degree. Ordained as a minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in 1968, I served churches in Pikeville and Dawson Springs, Kentucky, Shelbyville, Tennessee, and Indianaplis and Greenfield, Indiana, before moving to Richmond, Virginia in 1995 as pastor of Hanover Avenue Christian Church. In 1993 I received a Doctor of Ministry degree from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago.I am married to the former Joyce Trickett, who is also an ordained minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).bio main
