VU class of 73, college of Arts and Science, English major. Member of varsity swimming team all four years, placed in the SEC meet in individual events 3 of 4 years, and qualified for outdoor nationals summer of 1972 (it was a slow year so guys like me could get in while the good swimmers went to the Olympic trials!). Highlight film would show me smuggling oranges into Memorial for games with UT and harassing UT baseball players in the spring from the safe confines of the old pool, that backs up to left - center field. Roomed with Doug Martin on swimming road trips, when Doug was the leading receiver on the football team - he is one of the most remarkable 2-sport stars I've ever heard of. Married the girl next door, who has 2 degrees from Auburn. Oldest daughter at Auburn and I hope we ruin her birthday next year by beating them there on her birthday (I'm not like that to my family except when it comes to VU sports).
